Let's all welcome Jen Wylie, the auhtor of the super awesome book, Sweet Light.
Could you tell us a little about yourself and your book,
Sweet Light?
I live in rural Ontario, Canada with my two boys, some birds
and our dog. I’m addicted to reading and writing and occasionally putter at
baking or crafts. I’m also an internet addictJ.
I’ve been writing since I was in public school, but just for myself. Sweet
Light was actually written a number of years ago. It was the first book I
finished (that wasn’t destroyed by some computer malfunction) A few years ago
my parents convinced me to give it a go at getting my book published…and here I
am today. J
Sweet light is a fantasy (which is pretty much all I write-
though in any form from paranormal to YA to urban) It is set in more of a
medieval setting, though not on earth. All of my stories have a little bit of
romance too (I’m a hopeless romantic) and love is a strong part of the plot in
this book. Choices are a big thing as well, making decisions, growing up,
living with them. There are some adult situations and violence, though not
severe- I don’t recommend of very young readers. It is a very emotional book
(did I mention I’m a very emotional person too?) and I hope all my readers
enjoy the ride and feel the story as
well as read it.
Was Shara based on anyone real?
Shara, and all my characters, are pure figments of my
imagination. They create themselves and pop into my head. The strongest ones
get written into stories. Sometimes one will show up late, and if they are
lucky I will go back and add them in. This was the case with Dric in Sweet Light.
The original first draft didn’t have his character. I had a dream about him one
night, and then he harassed me until I went and wrote him in. I’m rather glad I
did. He’s actually one of my favorite characters. J
Could you tell us about where all the writing magic happens?
In my bedroom, at a tiny desk under the window. Usually it’s
quite a mess J I
have my gumballs, chocolate, notes and various other things scattered
everywhere. My ‘Bang Head Here’ sign at the ready, and my wizard statue to
complain to if I get stuck.
Can we expect more books from you anytime soon?
Yes indeed! First I’ll have a number of new short stories
coming out. Hopefully before this year is over the following eBook shorts will
be available: Tales of Ever #5 Dragon Rising and #6 Sanctuary, a sequel to my
short story Jump and a new Immortal Echoes short titled The Untouchable Echo.
Back to novels, at this time no new ones will be published
in what’s left of 2011. For 2012, hopefully you’ll see the sequel to Sweet
Light. Currently Dark Madness is written (first draft only- so lots of work
left to do!) Also I just signed on with Hadley Rille Books to publish a YA
fantasy called Broken Aro. It will be out Oct. 2012.
If you got to use a time machine to visit any author, dead
or alive, and spend a day with them, who would you meet, and what would you do
in that day?
I would love to meet
Michelle Sagara (Sagara-West) She is one of my most favorite authors, and one
who has stayed my favorite since I first read her books years ago (I change favorites
a lot!) I’d probably harass her most of the day talking about all of her
stories and characters, and trying to convince to write just a little more romance into her next one :D
A book recommendation?
Only one? This is hard! If you like demons and sarcastic
wit, for sure check out Origins by Sean Hayden. If you want to laugh your ass
off and have your face hurt because you were grinning the entire time you were
reading, then check out Marian Allen’s Force of Habit.

I am like a box of chocolates (the good kind- not those icky
covered cherries!) I’m not always the same, sometimes a little nutty, sometimes
gooey…but always sweet! :D

Sweet Light
When fate conspires against you and gives you three loves to choose from, what do you do? What if you make the wrong choice?
